Art of Afrika Collective is an African women-led social design and research practice working where society, technology and culture meet. We work with organisations navigating complex social and technological questions, using research, strategy and design to turn insight into meaningful services, digital experiences and cultural interventions.
Our work is informed by African Knowledge Systems, Ubuntu, Decoloniality, Sociology, and Feminism. We see design not simply as a way of making things, but as a way of understanding and shaping the world around us. We create work that centres human dignity, honours African narratives and enables organisations to design with purpose, context and social impact.
Our space for nurturing new ideas and creative practice. This platform supports emerging African artists, designers, researchers, and creative practitioners to explore the intersections of society, technology, and culture. Through mentorship, experimentation, and collaborative inquiry, the fellowship cultivates new perspectives, creative interventions, and future-facing practices rooted in African contexts.
Our intellectual and research engine. This platform explores how design choices shape social structures and vice versa. It drives our critical dialogue around human-centered design, examining how technology and AI impact communities, and interrogating the socio-political implications of emerging technologies on the African continent.
Our visual and cultural sanctuary. This space serves as an exhibition and narrative-shifting hub, celebrating African creativity, craftsmanship, and visual storytelling. Through contemporary art, it challenges mainstream narratives and visually manifests the themes of identity, heritage, and future-forward resistance.
